Slow Trekking network accessible and practicable for everyone, from families to lovers of “tourist” excursions on foot or by bike or outdoor fitness enjoying the colors of the woods during all seasons or to enjoy the coolness of the water at Sponga Park after an excursion.

CINQUE FONTI PARK
Network of walking and cycling paths in the municipality of Canistro, the “Country of Waters“, perimeter of equipped green area with departure and return in the village of Canistro Inferiore

The paths were designed with the intention of discovering some of the most characteristic, naturalistically suggestive areas, or with a particular historical connotation or cultural and folkloristic value of Canistro: from the Frattaturo and San Vito springs, to the numerous fountains, fundamental in the past for the life of the town, to the historic centre of Canistro Superiore with the numerous churches and the Santuario della Madonna della Fonticella, to discover the majestic chestnut groves that represented the richness of rural life, up to the outlet of the Emissario di Claudio, in the municipality of Capistrello at the beginning of path 401, one of the most important hydraulic works from the Roman era.

Thanks to the presence of the path 404 which reaches the highest peak in the area, Monte Viglio (2156 m), and the path 403 which reaches Monte Viperella (1836 m) , the network also represents an attraction for those looking for more demanding challenges.
Among the routes, the Water and Chestnut Path, a 10 km ring that embraces the centers of Canistro Inferiore and Superiore and unites all the main points of interest, can be covered on foot and also by bike, therefore you are asked to pay attention to the presence of other users along the walkways.

The paths have CAI signs, with red-white trail signs and arrows; at various points of the network there are panels showing maps and useful information.
