The most elegant and hidden side of the Phlegraean Fields. The romantic, timeless atmosphere of a place straight out of a fairytale. It is not just a monument, but an experience that combines history, architecture, nature, and poetry.

The Vanvitellian House (Casina Vanvitelliana), also known as the Royal Casina or Palazzina del Fusaro, is a hunting lodge and stately home, a small and delightful building built on an artificial island in Lake Fusaro.

Commissioned by King Ferdinand IV of Bourbon as an exclusive location for his hunting and fishing trips in the lake’s waters, rich in fish and game.

It was primarily designed by Luigi Vanvitelli (the architect of the Royal Palace of Caserta), and completed by his son Carlo Vanvitelli.
It stands isolated on the waters of Lake Fusaro, connected to the mainland by a long wooden pier. This makes it appear suspended, creating a scenic and picturesque effect.
The structure has a polygonal plan with large windows that reflect on the water.

With a dodecagonal plan, it extends over two terraced levels. On the lower floor is the Circular Hall, once used for convivial gatherings and gala evenings. The chapel and the service rooms were located in the ambulatory outside the hall
The interior features rooms richly decorated with frescoes, stucco, and majolica. One of the most beautiful rooms is the Ballroom.
It has hosted historical figures such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (while still a boy), Gioacchino Rossini, and Emperor Francis II of Habsburg.
