– The Aquarium
A historical and scientific heritage for the city of Naples.The first aquarium in Italy, it is the oldest in the worldto have maintained its original architectural structure.
The journey inside the Aquarium will therefore lead the visitor to discover the sea, from the coast to the open sea, between caves and ravines, crossing posidonia meadows, passing from the coral to the abysses, from the pelagic environment , also inhabited by alien species, from Mediterranean rocks to tropical formations.

Of particular interest is the Murenario, which represents the breeding structures for moray eels (murenari) designed by the ancient Romans and well preserved in the submerged archaeological area of Gaiola at Capo Posillipo.

Another novelty is the Octopus Tank, an extraordinary ancient organism that has a life cycle of approximately two years and an intelligence similar to that of mammals.

The Darwin Dohrn Museum (DaDoM) celebrates the close relationship between Anton Dohrn and Charles Darwin. Dohrn founded the Zoological Station which today bears his name to “demonstrate the veracity of Darwin’s theory of evolution” through the study of marine life.
