the Porretta Soul Festival takes place every year in July. Prestigious European event dedicated entirely to Soul and Rhythm & Blues music.

Porretta Terme is a charming little village about 50 kilometers from Bologna in the mountains of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines with a beautiful historic center located on the banks of the Rio Maggiore stream, also crossed by the Reno river.

The Historic part of the town is characterized by narrow streets and suggestive squares surrounded by colorful buildings.

One of the most characteristic squares is Piazza della Libertà where the twentieth-century Palazzo Comunale is located.
Via Mazzini, on the other hand, is the shopping street, the main street full of shops and places to eat; the main historic hotels of the country are also located here.

Porretta is renowned for its Thermal Waters already known in Roman times, for their various therapeutic properties.
An ancient legend tells that, in the Middle Ages, a sick ox went to drink in the town’s waters and miraculously recovered. In memory of this event this animal became the symbol of the town.
