Visit the food and ammunition warehouses, the kitchens and the guard posts of the Great War. Friuli Venezia Giulia is a borderland rich in history and the remains of several fortifications can be found. The structures are freely accessible and you can follow the tunnels and walkways.
Among the barrages for the Austro-Hungarian batteries it is interesting to visit the Lago Predil fort and the Gola Aibl fort near Lake Predil.
An open-air museum with an old bunker and two historical artifacts
The Predil Lake Fort dates back to 1884 and was part of the “Sella Predil Barrage” with the aim of defending the then Austro-Hungarian border from possible Italian incursions. In particular, this fort supported the already existing one at the Aibl Gorge, connected via an underground passage.
