The palio is held on the first Saturday in August and lasts 9 days. Every evening at the center of the festival the various districts compete (rope shooting, archery, etc.) while around there are all areas where you can eat

The Baroque Dinner in the Square officially opens the most engaging tourist-traditional-cultural event in Artena: the Palio of the Contrade of the City of Artena, which will subsequently take place in the week preceding the mid-August holiday, in the park of the Villa Borghese.

Every evening there are different games for the assignment of points, but everything will begin with the beautiful and glittering parade with noble and commoner representatives, with over a thousand people and animals including mules, donkeys, horses and oxen

The parade starts from the lower part of the city, arriving at Piazza della Vittoria where the procession will be officially started which commemorates the visit of Pope Paul V to the fiefdom of Montefortino in October 1615. which at the time was governed by his nephew Cardinal Scipione Borghese.

In the following days, the ten districts will compete for victory by playing 20 popular games:
Cart race, Tug of war, Hoop race, Conca race

Skipping Rope and Relay for Men and Women

Sardamonte, Wheat Threshing, Trunk Cutting

Farmer’s Path, Brigand’s Game, Sack Race and Poetry

Donkey Racing, Archery, Song in Dialect, Historical Quintana

Everything will take place, as always, inside the wonderful park of the Villa Borghese of Artena surrounded by food and wine stands created by the people of the Contrada in order to be able to taste the typical traditional foods artenese.
