Cisterna di Latina (Lt) – Garden of Ninfa, a unique natural monument in the world

A picturesque Oasis of Flora and Fauna on the ruins of a Castle, Palaces, Churches and Medieval Bell Towers, surrounded by rich vegetation and streams that form a small lake. A singular and evocative place, unique in the world.

The Garden of Ninfa, created by the Caetani family, was classified by the New York Times among the most beautiful and romantic gardens in the world. Declared Natural Monument by the Lazio Region

The name Ninfa derives from a small Roman temple, dedicated to the Naiad Nymphs, deities of spring waters, located in the current garden.

Inside the Garden you can admire over 1300 species of plants, Viburnums, Honeysuckle, Ceanothus, Holly, Clematis, Dogwood, Camellias including 19 varieties of Magnolia, Birches, Water Irises and Japanese Maples.< strong> In spring, when the ornamental cherry and apple trees bloom, the chromatic show is exceptional.

The visit is particularly pleasant in the months of April and May, when the flowering is at its maximum splendor.

In order to preserve the delicate environmental balance the Garden of Ninfa can be visited on the days open to the public from mid-March to the first days of November

Many writers have found inspiration for their creations at the Garden of Nymphs, including Virginia Woolf, Truman Capote, Ungaretti, Moravia.

It is possible to visit and linger in the Hortus Conclusus, a small Italian garden dating back to the 17th century characterized by a citrus grove and pools with swans.
