Between Rome and Frosinone, a Natural Park offers many excursions, ranging from visits to Sanctuaries and ancient Villages to a dense network of trails accessible on Foot, Horseback and mountain Bike.

The Simbruini Mountains Regional Natural Park, one of the largest and most evocative natural parks in Lazio, extends between the provinces of Rome and Frosinone, in the heart of the central Apennines.

A true green lung, ideal for those seeking wilderness, silence, and a dive into history and spirituality.
Ideal for hiking, cycling, and birdwatching.

Various landscapes, from peaks over 2,000 meters (such as Monte Viglio, 2,156 m) to centuries-old beech forests, from karst plateaus to deep gorges.

Biodiversity: Habitat for wolves, Marsican brown bears (rare sightings), deer, golden eagles, and peregrine falcons.

Nature and Wildlife Watching: Chance to spot deer and roe deer in wildlife areas, and with a little luck, wolf tracks.

Best time: Year-round, but especially spring and autumn for the colors and mild climate. In winter, the higher altitudes offer snow-covered landscapes.

Picnic Areas
The pleasure of eating outdoors in the park’s picnic areas!

In this extraordinary setting, comfortable tables, with benches and fire pits are arranged in groups of two or three, amid the natural coolness of the treetops; children can have fun and run around the meadows.
Visitor Centers and Information Points
Eight thematic Visitor Centers, located in the seven municipalities of the Park.
The territory is represented and described through films, slides, suggestions, and educational games that connect visitors with the culture, traditions, and above all, the nature of the protected area.

Each facility hosts a general presentation of the area, which then develops according to a specific theme, different for each visitor center.
The Park has no fixed “gates” or paid entrances, but is freely accessible through strategic points in the municipalities involved, well-connected by paved roads and often equipped with visitor centers, parking lots, and the start of marked trails (red and white CAI markings).

Villages and Towns
The Park’s territory falls within eight municipalities, rich in historical, cultural, archaeological, and scenic interest. Still steeped in ancient cultural and food and wine traditions.
The municipalities are:
– (Rome Area) Arsoli, Camerata Nuova, Cervara di Roma, Jenne, Subiaco, Vallepietra
– (Frosinone Area) Filettino and Trevi nel Lazio
Guides
In the Park, there are small businesses that represent a rich heritage of original ideas, personal passion and creativity. They are practitioners of nature, culture, art and tradition and promoters of a different kind of tourism.
