Spectacular views from different perspectives: Historic, Romantic, Hidden, or Famous, for a unique experience, especially at sunset or in the evening hours when the city lights up.

Free panoramic viewpoints in Rome are ideal for admiring Rome from above, taking photos, enjoying the sunset, or simply strolling through history and nature, all at no cost.
The free panoramic views are just as good as many paid ones, especially in terms of the breadth of the view, atmosphere, and experience. They are easily reachable and accessible at any time, with lively or romantic atmospheres depending on the time of day.

Fun Fact – The Optical Illusion of Via Piccolomini
Known for a peculiar optical effect: the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica appears smaller as you get closer. You can clearly see this as you walk toward the dome. Take bus 982 from Santo Spirito Hospital, on the banks of the Tiber south of Castel Sant’Angelo, to Via Piccolomini.
