SPELEOLOGY COURSES
The Prealpine Speleological Group organizes introductory courses to speleology every year for curious and enthusiasts.

The courses aim to provide attendees with all the essential knowledge to become speleologists, through theoretical-practical training phases, at the end of which each participant will have acquired sufficient preparation technique, as well as theoretical-scientific knowledge relating to disciplines inherent to the practice of speleology.

GUIDED TOURS IN THE CAVE

Guided tours that the association organizes and manages every year for school groups, scout groups, naturalistic associations such as Legambiente, families and for anyone who wishes to participate in these events.

Conducted in absolute safety and with the presence of speleologists with proven experience and ability, they are carried out in some caves in the province of Varese which have characteristics such as to allow people inexperienced to tackle the underground route without danger, sufficiently equipped with helmets equipped with lighting, gloves and specific clothing for these particular excursions.

The visits, which on average last a couple of hours, take place along a pre-established route and with the explanation of the various natural phenomena encountered along the way, i.e. the concretions, the forms of erosion on the walls of the cave, the presence of rocky blocks and large environments, in addition to the most evocative aspects of the visit including, for example, the remaining some minutes in absolute silence and in the dark, to perceive the delicate noises of the drops of water which, with their work, contribute to the formation of wonders of nature such as stalactites and stalagmites.

ANTI-AIRCRAFT SHELTERS OPENING
During the Second World War, and in particular during 1944, numerous anti-aircraft shelters were built underground in Varese.

A couple of times a yearthe members of the GS Prealpino open the refuges and organize guided tours inside them to give anyone the opportunity to rediscover fragments of history hidden in the subsoil of Varese< /strong>

ROCK GYM
An area where a beautiful rock gym has been created, suitable for training in speleological techniques of rope progression. An ideal place to carry out periodic training trips for members and supporters.

A series of walls, between 2 and 50 metres, equipped and prepared with the installation of specific expansion bolts on which the anchors necessary for laying the ropes are mounted , they allow you to carry out descent and ascent maneuvers in absolute safety which often involve dozens of people at the same time. The large and articulated surface of the entire area guarantees all operators ample space for manoeuvre.

A “via ferrata” that runs along the lower ridge at the base of the highest walls, in addition to the installation of the “cableway pole”, a sturdy steel structure suitable for installation and the tensioning of the ropes on which to carry out horizontal movements with the aid of pulleys and caving ascenders.

The area also boasts relaxation spaces with covered gazebos, tables and benches, structures capable of offering shelter and comfort to gym goers during breaks.
