Among the things to do and see between Ispra and Ranco on the shores of Lake Maggiore. Perfect for nature lovers, hikers, and birdwatchers. The Gulf of Quassa Park and Sasso Cavallaccio, a natural oasis with walking and cycling trails, beaches, and historic sites. Ideal for hiking and picnics. The Park of the imposing Sasso Cavallaccio.

The Parco del Golfo della Quassa is a protected natural area on the shores of Lake Maggiore, between the municipalities of Ispra and Ranco (province of Varese). The perfect destination for a day trip.
It’s not a park with modern attractions or services, but its beauty lies precisely in its wild and authentic essence.

An oasis of tranquility, open 24 hours a day, with lush vegetation, beaches, lake views, and interesting historical and geological features. Ideal for a relaxing day in nature, perfect for families, walks, or outdoor activities.
The park is free to access, with parking in Ispra (e.g., along the Amerigo Vespucci lakefront or Via Cadorna). It’s perfect in all seasons: spring/summer for swimming, autumn for foliage, and winter for leisurely walks.

The well-marked and flat trails wind through woods and clearings, offering breathtaking views of the lake and the surrounding mountains, including the majestic Monte Rosa.
Points of interest include the Sasso Cavallaccio, a large erratic boulder, and the picturesque lakeside promenade, ideal for a stroll overlooking Lake Maggiore.

Walk of Love
A scenic path that runs along the Ispra lakefront, starting from the boat dock at the base of Via Verbano. The Tourist Office is also located here.

On the wall at the beginning of the trail are tiles with Poems chosen through literary competitions.
A beautiful but challenging trail, it literally moves along the lakeshore, over rocks, concrete bridges, and walkways, until reaching a staircase. Climbing it, you can continue towards the Fornaci or return to the town center.
