It’s a short walk suitable for everyone that allows you to reach a spectacular viewpoint ideal for a picnic. This place is also fascinating for a true story that happened here at the end of the 19th century
The Presolana Pass offers fantastic landscapes and numerous excursion opportunities. The location of Salto degli Sposi can be reached in about 10 minutes after leaving the car near the Pass.

JUMP OF THE WEDDING GROUP
A path between the green woods of Monte Scanapà and the rocky Presolana massif leads to the precipice which saw the tragic epilogue of a love story.
One day in the spring of 1871, a Polish musician named Massimiliano Prihoda who was supposed to perform at the Teatro della Scala in Milan, stopped by to visit his relatives who had settled years earlier in Dorga, in Val Seriana. He was so struck by the beauty of the places, especially the Presolana Pass, that he decided to return there later with his wife Anna Stereat, a painter.
The two often walked up to the Belvedere, a cliff that was at the end of a path in the woods: the locals got used to that foreign couple and started calling them “the newlyweds”.

Without an apparent reason, one day at the end of September, after a strong storm, the two young people went to the cliff; after Anna painted her husband’s portrait and he composed a short melody dedicated to his wife, they threw themselves into the void embracing, and so they were found the next day at the base of the cliff.
Since then, that place has taken the name of “Salto degli Sposi” and is a destination for lovers from all over who come here to throw flowers as a wish for their love.
Curiosities:
It seems that Anna Stereat’s painting was found by chance in Bombay (India) at the Prince of Wales Museum of Western India, and that the score was recently rediscovered in the library of the Gaetano Donizetti Conservatory in Bergamo.
