One of the major Ethnographic Museums in Italy that proposes a recovery of the material and immaterial testimonies of the area. The collection includes objects of historical-archaeological interest, exhibited in the basements of the former monastic refectory and the fascinating Puppet Museum.

The Polironiano Civic Museum is one of the most important museums in the Lombardy Region.
The feature that makes it unique is that it is located in the rooms that were originally the dormitories of the monastic complex.

Visiting its rooms you can observe the Tools that were used to work the fields, discover how cheese was produced, enter a classroom from 1900, admire the Scriptorium and the Library of the Monastery or simply get lost in the corridors.

The first part (sections 1 – 15) is dedicated to Material Culture and Rural Society;
the second (sections 16 to 24) is reserved for Magic, Popular Religion, Local Legends and Artistic Expressions of the Po Valley.

Also of considerable interest is the Historical-Archaeological Collection of the Museum, currently exhibited in the basement of the former monastic refectory. The collection includes conventual clay, stone and ceramic materials recovered during the excavation campaigns.

Another important collection is that of the ancient agricultural carts from Reggio Emilia and Modena, which is located in the basement of the former monastic infirmary.

The Polironiano Civic Museum is housed in restored rooms that were once the Dormitories, the Library and the Scriptorium of the Monastery, offering a suggestive context for the visit.
