A fascinating context with important works of Renaissance Painting, Decorative Arts and a rich collection of local Ceramics, evidence of the artistic tradition of Pesaro

Palazzo Mosca houses the Civic Museums, the Art Gallery and the Ceramics Museum. Divided into five rooms we find many paintings, majolica, porcelain and sculptures.

Main Works of Art
Coronation of the Virgin by Giovanni Bellini
The painting par excellence, a masterpiece of the Italian Renaissance, executed around 1475 for the church of San Francesco in Pesaro.

Blessed Michelina Metelli by Jacobello del Fiore
Painted around 1410, it represents the saint from Pesaro in a late-Gothic style, rich in detail and movement.
Works such as the Magdalene and the Penitent Saint Joseph are on display, examples of refined seventeenth-century Pesaro painting.

Fall of the Giants by Guido Reni
A work of great scenographic impact, originally intended for the decoration of a private ceiling.

Still lifes by Christian Berentz, Franz Werner Von Tamm and Antonio Gianlisi Junior
Paintings from the late seventeenth century that exalt the theme of the transience of beauty and the fragility of human life, with remarkable chromatic and illusionistic effects.
Ceramics and Decorative Arts together with furnishings and sculptures, are exhibited in the second Hall, a sort of “Wunderkammer” (chamber of wonders) of the Pesaro museum.

As for Maiolica, a selection of the most representative historiated works from the main centers of the ancient Duchy of Urbino, Casteldurante (now Urbania), Pesaro, Gubbio – and sixteenth-century lustres from Deruta, from the Mazza collection, are exhibited.
The room also features masterpieces of Decorative art from different eras, from the legacy of the Marchesa Vittoria Toschi Mosca such as the Muranese Mirror
Works by the painter, architect and ceramist from Pesaro, a leading figure of the local eighteenth century
The visit is particularly suitable for both art enthusiasts and families with children, thanks to educational tours and activities by reservation.
The hours are designed to meet the needs of tourists and residents, with openings also in the afternoons and on weekends.
To improve the didactic apparatus and enhance the existing digital equipment, a series of supports have been introduced:
– Video guides to the rooms in LIS (Italian sign language) for the deaf and can be accessed via NFC
– Audio guides for the blind and can be accessed via NFC (Also available at Pesaro Musei)
– Captions in Braille of the most significant works and/or those functional for tactile reading
– Relief plates of the Coronation of the Virgin by Giovanni Bellini and the façade of the Palazzo Ducale in Pesaro
– Three-dimensional reproduction in high relief of a majolica plate with “Pesaro rose” decoration.

Accessible to those with motor disabilities, inside the Civic Museums there is a wheelchair available for those with walking difficulties.
