One of the most photographed places in the Marche, famous for the view of the turrets of the Palazzo Ducale, the Apennine landscape and for its historical-military value.

The Rocca Albornoz, also known as Fortezza Albornoz o Parco della Resistenza (Resistance Park), is a historic fortification located on the highest point of the hill San Sergio in Urbino.
It was built between 1367 and 1371 for defensive purposes, replacing a previous structure deemed inadequate to protect the city.

The name derives from Cardinal Egidio Albornoz, papal legate, although some studies attribute the construction to his successor, Cardinal Angelico Grimoard

Currently the building is surrounded by a public park, dedicated to the Resistance, arranged as a terrace and can be visited. The large lawn of the park is very popular with tourists and citizens, ideal for a relaxing break with a view of the “City of the Dukes”

From it the view can sweep across the hills and mountains surrounding Urbino.
Inside the Rocca is the small museum “Bella Gerit”, which houses archaeological finds and a collection dedicated to military equipment between the fourteenth and sixteenth centuries. Armor and swords all strictly original, Firearms

On the first Sunday of September the Rocca hosts a Kite Competition, promoted by the city districts, in memory of the poem L’aquilone di Giovanni Pascoli, written by poet while attending high school in Urbino.
