The Palazzo Ducale, built starting from 1454 at the behest of Federico da Montefeltro, is considered one of the absolute masterpieces of Renaissance architecture.

It stands out for its imposing structure, which combines elements of a noble residence and a fortress, with Towers, Internal Courtyards, Panoramic Lodges and refined Decorative details. A meeting place for humanists, artists and writers, and inspired the work “Il Cortegiano” by Baldassarre Castiglione.
The Palazzo Ducale houses the Galleria Nazionale delle Marche, which collects one of the most important art collections of the Italian Renaissance.

The Gallery exhibits Paintings, Sculptures, Ceramics, Drawings and Furniture from the 14th to the 18th century, in a journey that enhances both the works and the historic spaces of the palace

Among the masterpieces on display are:
Flagellation of Christ by Piero della Francesca, considered one of the most enigmatic and studied works of the Renaissance.
Raphael’s Mute Woman, one of the most famous female portraits by the artist from Urbino.

Works by Titian, Luca Signorelli, Guido Reni, Federico Barocci and other great masters.
The famous Panel of the Ideal City, attributed to Luciano Laurana or an artist from his circle.

It can also be very interesting to visit the Underground, Kitchens and Services of the Palace, which at the time was of an astonishing modernity.

Also stunning are the Inlaid Studiolo, the Library of Illuminated Manuscripts and the Chapel of Forgiveness, attributed to Bramante, without forgetting the Apartments and the Ballroom and the Courtyard of Honor.
