A place of great charm, where History, Art and Faith intertwine in a unique environment, enriched by masterpieces such as the Nativity Scene by Brandani and the Baroque Decorations by Roncalli.

The Oratorio di San Giuseppe is one of the most fascinating and history-rich monuments in Urbino, located in via Federico Barocci, a few steps from the Oratory of San Giovanni. It is home to the brotherhood of the same name, founded in the early 16th century.

In Baroque style, it stands out for its rich interior decoration and the presence of works of art of great value
The entrance welcomes you with a majestic Portal and a statue of San Giuseppe.

Federico Brandani’s Nativity Scene
in the chapel on the right is a life-size nativity scene made between 1545 and 1550, considered one of the masterpieces of Italian Mannerist sculpture. The figures are modeled in plaster and the chapel is set up like a cave with tuff and pumice stone.

Frescoes and canvases by Carlo Roncalli
the walls and the vault are decorated with frescoes and large canvases that illustrate episodes of the life of San Giuseppe, made between the 17th and 18th centuries.

Statue of Saint Joseph
above the main altar dominates a white marble statue of Saint Joseph, work of Giuseppe Lironi, donated by Cardinal Annibale Albani.
Furniture and precious objects
The oratory also houses a monumental organ from 1782, a Murano glass chandelier, Baroque silverware, ancient confraternity clothes and a sacristy furniture painted by Alessio De Marchis

Oratorio delle Cinque Piaghe
The only church decorated in Rococo style in Urbino. It was the seat of the brotherhood of the same name, later merged with that of San Giuseppe.
Inside there are several works of art dating from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, mainly by local artists and linked to the cult of the Passion of Christ and of San Filippo Neri.
The entrance ticket can be combined with that of the Oratory of San Giovanni, thus offering the possibility of visiting two of the most evocative places in Urbino
