Climbing inside the Statue is possible and is an incredible experience. The Statue measures a height of approximately 35 metres, which the visitor can reach by climbing to the top of Sancarlone.

The Statue of San Carlo was built in Arona, hometown of Borromeo, after his canonization in honor of the greatness of the Milanese archbishop.
Through some spiral steps and then a steep marinara staircase with protection you climb up to the head of the Saint, observing at the same time its internal structure.

From here it is possible to look outside through some holes corresponding to the eyes, nostrils and ears of the Saint.
Other windows open at shoulder height allowing you to look out and enjoy the remarkable surrounding panorama.

The terrace, equipped with panoramic telescopes, offers a wonderful view of Lake Maggiore and the Rocca di Angera.

Picnic area
Inside the Park, in the shade of centuries-old trees, there are areas equipped for picnics.
Upon reservation, groups are allowed to stop there to eat a packed lunch.
Completed at the end of 1600, it was for a long time the tallest statue in the world (the record refers to the statues that can be visited inside) and was taken as a model for the Statue of Liberty of New York. Built at the behest of Federico Borromeo, it celebrates the greatness of Carlo Borromeo, born in Arona and proclaimed a saint in 1610.
