A museum with working historic trains and carriages. Miniature models, large working models, curious finds and objects, from lights to signals to the caps of the personnel in charge of the various countries. Engines and cars – from the unforgettable steam engines to the most modern patiently restored electric and diesel locomotives.
Also suitable for children who are involved by volunteers in a playful and fun way such asgetting on trains and service vehicles or on pedal trolleys to travel up and down the tracks . Furthermore, a small miniature train to get on and take a ride.
The Collection
over sixty vehicles including Locomotives, Carriages, Freight Wagons and Special Vehicles (including a crane from 1860), including several unique pieces positioned on tracks connected to the railway network in two former stations (called di head and tail). Sidewalks to allow visitors to board, just like in a station
On the external square there is a 21 meter functioning turntable, dating back to the 1920s, to orient the steam locomotives and sort them in the characteristic “rotunda”, the adjacent circular sector shed.
A miniature railway system in scale 1:32 (scale I modelling) which allows the circulation of commercial and steam models on all tracks
The ground floor of the building is divided into two sections
– the first dedicated to the collection of devices, accessories and equipment for work on railway lines;
– the second includes the collection of models and models. The largest of the models is entirely digitally electronically controlled, operating with the same patterns and principles as real train circulation, independently of each other, in a way similar to that in which trains circulate in reality.
The Museum’s activity consists in collecting railway vehicles of all types, from steam locomotives to the modern “Pendolino” and in the conservation of traffic control apparatus, work tools, memorabilia and documents of those who designed, built and lived the railway.
