Historical re-enactments and popular songs welcome visitors on these magical nights, with the darkness giving way to the light and heat of the Flames. With a torchlight procession, you can reach the almost 70 bonfires created in the streets of the town.
The Night of Fanove, an ancient rite to recall, every year, the miracle of the Madonna della Vetrana who saved the city from the plague in 1691.

The celebration begins with the traditional appointment of the Diana, the evocative night visit to the oil mills of the Castellano area, with a band in tow, to collect the oil that is used to power the lamp of the Virgin at the Sanctuary of Santa Maria della Vetrana.

The first bonfire to be lit is the Largo San Francesco one at the Santa Maria della Vetrana Sanctuary at approximately 7 pm. Following, in the torchlight procession, the lighting of all the other fanoves is scheduled, in Largo Porta Grande, Largo San Leone Magno and in the city centre.

The Fanove Festival is a spectacular celebration in which religious devotion and popular tradition come together to create an extraordinary event.

The opportunity for an exceptional Festival in which to enjoy typical gastronomy, popular songs and the warmth of Tradition, which every year, on the night of January 11th, encourages you to visit the City of Caves.
