Singular event of high cultural value recognized at a national and international level which for an entire weekend the country opens its squares to Reflections, Debates, Readings, Shows, Exhibitions, presented by Italian and foreign Authors, established and debuting, on Literary, Social and Political, Ethical and Philosophical themes, stories of the world for adults and children.
The event has the main aim of spreading the reading and attention to the book but also of raising awareness and appreciating the places and people of Barbagia who host the event.
The Festival has grown over the years, conquering an ever-larger audience, travellers, curious tourists, who enliven the charming historic center and the streets of the town for an intense weekend.

The Island of Stories is a Literary Festival held annually in the first days of July in Gavoi, in the province of Nuoro, in Barbagia, Sardinia; it is also called, more officially, Sardinia Literary Festival, or, more commonly, Gavo Festivali.
Voices, Stories, Music and Readings that echo through the alleys of the historic centre, the faces of the guests immortalized in the photos displayed on the walls along the streets, welcome and welcome the public arriving in the town.
Meetings with writers, readings, debates, book presentations and workshops enliven every corner of the town centre, giving participants an unforgettable experience.
The presence of internationally renowned guests and emerging talents enriches the program, offering a variety of content capable of communicating with every type of reader.
