An unexpected Sicily: wooded hills, breathtaking views, secret waterfalls, villages with authentic traditions, and authentic flavors. A perfect mix for those seeking a full immersion in nature, history, and the island’s rural soul.

The Nebrodi Park is the largest protected natural area in Sicily, with a surface area distributed across 23 municipalities and 3 provinces.
This mountainous area is a spectacular wild landscape with beech forests, valleys, streams, and rocky cliffs. The park takes its name from the Roe Deer (in Greek “nebros”), the animal symbol of the area

The Park is divided into four zones (A, B, C, D), but the main attractions are concentrated only in the first two zones (A, B). The other zones have specific prohibitions and restrictions, essential for the conservation of the resources that constitute the protected area’s heritage.

Within the park’s trails travel is permitted only on foot or by mountain bike (see authorizations).
Since the various attractions are great distances, a car is required to reach the desired location and then continue on foot or by mountain bike along the various marked trails.
Entrance to the park is Free.
Cases of Request for Permits
To undertake hiking or mountain biking activities, permits must be requested at least one week in advance (request form)
Visits to Attractions
The Nebrodi Park offers so many alternatives for visiting natural, scenic, historical, and recreational attractions that it is best to choose the type of experience you want to enjoy in advance.

To visit the park in a single day, it’s advisable to organize a targeted excursion that includes the park’s most scenic and iconic spots, preferably with your own vehicle or on guided tours.

To optimize a day visit, it’s worth focusing on the lakes, waterfalls, rock formations, and panoramic viewpoints. It’s also worth opting for an organized tour or a self-drive itinerary to limit travel and fully enjoy the park’s natural beauty.
A possible one-day itinerary could include:
The Christ the Lord of the Mountain, a statue approximately 7 meters tall positioned on the tip of the Pizzipiturro rock in Cesarò. This vantage point offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Nebrodi mountains and Mount Etna.

Visit to Lake Biviere in Cesarò and the nearby Mangalaviti Forest, strolling along nature trails and enjoying views of the lake and the Mediterranean scrub.

Excursion to the Rocche del Crasto, perfect for admiring the flights of golden eagles and griffon vultures and enjoying spectacular views of the surrounding valleys.
Stop at the Catafurco Waterfall (Galati Mamertino – Messina) with the opportunity to stroll through the nearby traditional Molisa farming village.

Weather permitting, climb to the summit of Monte Soro, the highest peak in the park, for a 360-degree view of the area.
