The Scala dei Turchi is a rocky wall (cliff) that rises above the sea along the coast of Realmonte, near Porto Empedocle, in the province of Agrigento.
It stands between two fine sandy beaches and from the top you can see the entire Agrigento coast; over time it has become a tourist attraction due to the singularity of the white cliff, with its peculiar shapes.

La Scala is made up of marl, a sedimentary rock of a calcareous and clayey nature and has a wavy and irregular shape, with lines that are not harsh but rather gentle and rounded.
Unlike other types of rock, this is not hot but cool and the sensation to the touch on the scorching days of the Sicilian summer is truly pleasant.

Sculpted and smoothed by the wind, the cliff has cavities that form natural armchairs, very comfortable for sunbathing and admiring a stupendous panorama.
Seen as a whole, both from above and from the small sandy beach that extends below the cliff, the Scala dei Turchi is breathtakingly beautiful.

Thanks to its position, little affected by the winds, the Scala dei Turchi beach was once the safe haven for pirate ships of Arab origin (mistakenly called “Turks”) who went to plunder the nearby villages.
Today, despite the inconveniences of reaching it, it is one of the most visited tourist attractions in Sicily.

To access it you have to walk down a path, in the middle of which there is a restaurant, which leads to the beach
Visits to the Scala dei Turchi site are regulated in time slots lasting a maximum of 30 minutes with a maximum of 20 participants.
A small ticket is expected for non-residents
