Do you know where the cave is with a pool of water believed to be miraculous by the faithful?
But of course, in #Puglia, it’s more precisely in Cagnano Varano (in the province of Foggia), a few meters from the largest saltwater lake in Italy: #lagodivarano.
#Gargano is a magical, mystical, and mysterious land with legends and tales that have been handed down over the centuries.
The cave that forms the backdrop to my story is dedicated to Saint Michael the Archangel, a saint whose cult is deeply felt in these areas.
This cave, it is said, was the saint’s refuge before reaching Monte Sant’Angelo, where his sanctuary, which became a #UNESCO World Heritage Site in the 1990s, is located.
The story, however, doesn’t directly concern the cave and the saint, but a pool of water behind the main altar containing water believed to be #miraculous by the faithful and to cure vision problems.
This “power” has led to the pool being called “Santa Lucia,” the patron saint of sight.
