Silent guardian of the history, culture and art of the city, it houses a vast collection of works of art that cover a wide historical period, from the Middle Ages to the Modern Age.

Housed in the elegant Palazzo Bruni Ciocchi, from the Renaissance period, the Museum extends over three floors and twenty rooms, with works of art from the Middle Ages to the 19th century and, outside, the hanging garden.

Among the most significant works
Medieval sculptures such as St. Michael the Archangel and the statues depicting the Madonna and Child, formerly placed to protect the entrance gates to the city
Important paintings from the 13th century, including the gold background panels by Margarito d’Arezzo, the first significant artist from Arezzo, as well as collections of Ivories, Placchette, Bronzetti and Goldsmithery that document the ancient roots of the Arezzo goldsmith tradition, and the precious scapular of Blessed Pope Gregory X

Fourteenth-century and Renaissance art: Detached frescoes by Spinello Aretino, panels by Pietro Lorenzetti and Buonamico Buffalmacco.
One of the richest and most important collections of Renaissance Majolica in Italy, completed by a large glazed terracotta altarpiece by Andrea della Robbia.

Among the sculptures there is also a portrait-bust of Vittorio Fossombroni, by Lorenzo Bartolini.
Works by Giorgio Vasari: Including The Marriage Feast of Esther and Ahasuerus and The Immaculate Conception.

Macchiaioli: Small Paintings by Giovanni Fattori, Telemaco Signorini and Adriano Cecioni
Medieval Gold-Plated Paintings by Margarito di Arezzo and Collections of Majolica Ceramics.

Art from the 16th to the 19th century: Works by Luca Signorelli, Domenico Pecori, Salvator Rosa, Carlo Dolci, Andrea Pozzo and Viviano Codazzi.
In addition to the historical collections, the Museum also houses Modern Art Works, offering a complete panorama of the artistic evolution of the region.

The museum also includes an Archaeological section with finds from ancient Etruria and the Roman era
