A Miners’ Village transformed into a Museum to discover life and work in the mines with a visit to the mines, aboard the original Miners’ Train. An exciting visit balanced between Nature, History and Archaeology.

In the San Silvestro Archaeological Mining Park there are Museums, mining galleries, a medieval village of miners and smelters founded a thousand years ago. But also paths of historical, archaeological, geological and naturalistic interest.

You never get bored at the San Silvestro Archaeological and Mining Park.

The visit begins from the Museum of Archeology and Minerals, in the ticket office building, and continues in the galleries of the Temperino Mine, to discover the underground world and evolution of the research and extraction techniques of copper, lead, silver and zinc minerals in Val di Cornia.

After leaving the mine, in a few minutes you reach the area of Pozzo Earle, where the displays of the Museum of Mining Machines and the Miners’ Museum (Morteo) tell the story of the last decades of mining history.

The entrance to the Lanzi-Temperino Gallery opens right in front of the Morteo, the old Miners’ canteen, a place to meet and share life in the mine.

From here we set off on a journey aboard the characteristic Trenino della Minera, retracing the journey of the minerals, from the extraction sites in the Temperino valley to the treatment plants in the Lanzi valley.
