Capalbio (Gr) – Tarot Garden, an original masterpiece of artistic installations

Art and Wonder with the gigantic, colorful sculptures inspired by Tarot cards that attract visitors to an indoor and outdoor park. Enormous sculptures, the square, the fountains with their imaginative architecture, in steel and concrete covered with glass mosaics, mirrors and colored ceramics, recall esoteric and symbolic meanings, such as the Major Arcana of the Tarot.

The Tarot Garden, an unconventional place where you can lose yourself in the beauty of the landscape and the colors of the sculptures, with cyclopean sculptures 12 to 15 meters high immersed in the nature of the Maremma dedicated to the tarot symbols.

Masterpiece by the French-American sculptor Niki de Saint Phalle with the help of her husband, the sculptor Jean Tinguely represents a world suspended between dream and reality in which the 22 major arcana of the tarot are depicted.

Some can be visited inside (decorated down to the last millimetre) and in others it is possible to climb up to the top (children must be accompanied). The best seasons to visit are certainly autumn and spring, when the heat is not excessive.

A one-of-a-kind artistic park, perhaps comparable only to the architectural works of Gaudì in Spain. Surrounded by greenery, with its sculptures with a more bizarre shape than ever, it immediately transmits an atmosphere of enchantment, fascination and play that does not leave anyone indifferent.

The visit to the park lasts from one to three hours, depending on the time dedicated to each sculpture. There are water fountains along the paths (also for four-legged friends). Some statues can also be visited at the top, but they are not fenced off, so be careful with small children.

Due to its particular appearance, its delicacy and with the aim of preserving the magical atmosphere that can be felt in the garden, visits are only possible from April to mid-October, in predetermined time slots, for a limited number of visitors.

Furthermore, by the artist’s wish, in order to safeguard the freedom of movement of visitors, there are no guided tours or a pre-established itinerary.

Opening date and time:
– from 28 March to 15 October, every day
– from 2.30pm to 7.30pm, last admission at 6.15pm

– the Garden remains open on rainy days and holidays,
– there are no private visits or guided tours,
– dogs are allowed as long as they are kept on a leash,
– the Garden parking is free and unattended for visitors,
– average duration of the visit 1h30.
