The Puccini Museum – Giacomo Puccini’s Birthplace is a historical museum dedicated to the life, work and traces left by the great composer. An opportunity to rediscover his personality, passions and genius.

It is located on the second floor of an ancient building in the heart of the historic center of Lucca, where Giacomo Puccini was born on December 22, 1858. The Puccini family had lived in this house since 1815

The itinerary takes you through the rooms of the Birthplace, which today appears as it was when the young Giacomo Puccini lived there.

– The Music Room with the Steinway & Sons symbol object
– Turandot Room with the stage costume for the second act of Turandot, donated by Maria Jeritza
– The Studio with testimonies of the Maestro’s fame such as the Caricatures dedicated to him
– the Living Room with two splendid portraits of the Maestro
– the Attic of La Bohème (recreated installation)

The Museum’s collection includes, among other things
Steinway & Sons piano on which Puccini composed some of his most famous operas, including Turandot.
Autograph scores of early compositions, offering a glimpse into the composer’s musical education.
Collection of letters and photographs documenting Puccini’s personal and professional life.

Among the most interesting relics, we note the Turandot costume worn by Maria Jeritza at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York in 1926.
Portraits of Giacomo Puccini senior and his wife Angela Piccinini, of Antonio and a plaster bust of Michele, Giacomo’s father.
Original and Period Furniture, which reproduce the environment in which Puccini lived during his childhood and youth
