Palio di Sant’Agabito
In the 15th century, Donna Paola Colonna lived in Marciana who, on behalf of the Appiani lordship, administered the town and its lands.

Donna Paolo Colonna used to give her fellow villagers moments of play and a peaceful life. For this reason, on August 18th, on the occasion of Sant’Agabito, he decided to pay homage to his father of the same name by creating an event that is still taking place today.

Flag-wavers with the usual blessing of the districts, banners and teams, and then proceeding with the Giostra dei Rioni, ancient games between the local teams, all in Piazza For di Brings.

Following the dinner in the Belvedere square of the Pisan Fortress, Donna Paola and the entire Court will descend into the main square of the village and will begin the celebrations with the flag-waving shows the Devil’s Jesters, and Jullar Giocoso by ArteAre.

The most awaited moment is that of the Gara del Ciocco in the late evening, a “relay” in which the people of Marciano from each district challenge each other in a race carrying on their shoulders a heavy log of wood.
