The last of the Austro-Hungarian fortresses, an imposing Austro-Hungarian fortification entirely dug into the rock. Symbol of the Great War on the Trentino front, today enhanced as a place of historical and landscape memory

Forte Pozzacchio, built starting in 1909 as part of the Adige-Vallarsa Barrier, was designed to resist the fire of the most powerful artillery of the time and represented a strategic bulwark against a possible Italian advance during the First World War

During the war, the fort was disputed between the Austro-Hungarians and the Italians: abandoned by the Austrians at the beginning of the conflict, it was conquered by the Italians in June 1915, retaken by the Austro-Hungarians in May 1916 during the Strafexpedition, and the scene of bloody clashes until the end of the conflict

Today, Forte Pozzacchio is open to the public and can be visited.
An important tourist attraction for those interested in Military history and the First World War. Guided tours allow you to explore the various sections of the fort and better understand its historical role
