A historical trail to the sites of the Third War of Independence and the Great War, exploring a piece of history in a natural setting with cultural and scenic walks.

The Forte Ampola Park is located in the center of the Ampola Valley and is a historical and naturalistic site of great interest. It offers an outdoor cultural trail highlighting the former Fort Ampola and the historic settlements that have characterized the area from the 1700s to the present day.
You can explore the ruins of the Fort, a cultural landscape rich in history, with evidence of military events, including the Second and Third Italian Wars of Independence.

The ruins on the area become part of the cultural landscape: they represent evocative fragments of a bygone era, simultaneously signaling an absence and a presence, an intersection between the visible and the invisible, and offering visitors an opportunity to “feel time.”
Fort Ampola, built between 1860 and 1862 by the Austrians, played a strategic role in controlling the valley, known as “the key to Tyrol.”
A panoramic walkway allows you to admire the Ampola Waterfall, offering evocative views immersed in an almost pristine natural environment.

The park can also be visited in the evening, with its evocative atmosphere and special effects.

Inside the park, the First World War Museum recounts the history of the fort and the surrounding area.
