The Fuga del Bove (The Ox’s Escape) a historical reenactment held every August in Montefalco (province of Perugia).

A Festival that involves the city’s four districts in a series of competitions and challenges to win the prestigious Golden Falcon.
La Fuga del Bove becomes an open-air medieval stage amid costumes, flags, drums, and the aromas of Umbrian cuisine.

represents the opening night with Historical dinner in costume (reservations required).
A true event with Music, Dance and Juggling between courses.

– Historical Parade
with Processions in Renaissance dress, Musicians and Flag-wavers.
For the occasion, each neighborhood organizes a parade with guards and noble figures in period costume.
– District Shows
in Piazza del Comune, Flag-wavers and Drummers Competition, Artistic Performances and Skills Competitions
Themed shows that change every year to renew the curiosity and attention of the public.

Four refined performances, fantastic stories told through complex sets and structures, wonderful music, and captivating lyrics, accompanied by lighting designs that captivate spectators, transporting them to lost atmospheres and sensations of times gone by.

The taverns of the four neighborhoods are open every evening with typical Umbrian dishes (crescia, strangozzi with truffles, game, Sagrantino di Montefalco DOCG and Montefalco Rosso)

The Ox Race
The Main Event always falls on August 19th.

The most anticipated moment! Each district presents a bull (carefully trained throughout the year). They compete on the track, with stadium-style cheering and an award ceremony for the winner.
Each bull is made to run along a city track among crowds of people, flag-wavers, and a historical parade of 400 figures in 15th-century costumes.
The Golden Falcon award ceremony follows.
