Located in the heart of the historic center, this theater is an extraordinary example of Roman architecture and represents a significant testimony to the cultural and social life of ancient Augusta Praetoria, the Roman name for Aosta.

The Roman Theater of Aosta, built in the 1st century AD, represents a masterpiece of provincial Roman architecture.
With a strong landscape impact in which the high peaks surrounding the city enhance the momentum of the mighty façade wall, it rises over an urban and archaeological area of fascinating richness.

Its monumental facade, 22 meters high and pierced by arches and windows on four orders, is one of the most spectacular and recognizable elements of the site.
Not far away there was an Amphitheater, today partially incorporated with a few integrated arches in the Convent of San Giuseppe
