An annual Event on December 26th! Rouotta, a Bowling Game with exciting challenges, Traditions, and lots of fun awaits you in this Historic competition.

In the Lys Valley, in Lillianes, an ancient Bowling Game, Rouotta, is still played today. The term rouotta may derive from the Latin ruo-ruere: to run, to launch, or from roto-rotare, to rotate.
Tradition dictates that the Rouotta takes place only once a year, on December 26th, St. Stephen’s Day, in any weather, from approximately 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM, when darkness obscures the view of the participants and the referee.

In Lillianes’s “Rouotta” women and non-residents are also enthusiastically welcomed.
The game consists of a route along the town’s streets and open spaces, which is redesigned each year and features a series of challenges.
At each stage of the route, each player attempts to score points by overcoming obstacles and throwing a wooden or clay ball.

Some challenges involve gestures and body movements that make it more difficult to score a point, and the uniqueness lies precisely in the imagination and ingenuity the referee uses to devise the challenge.
Before each throw, you must shout in patois “cochon en avant” or “…apreu mé,” following the instructions provided.

Ou cu, Ou cu
Penalties are assessed for errors in trajectory, distances, and failure to use ritual calls, which also lead to derision of the chant “ou cu, ou cu” (the butt, the butt).
