An ideal place for Nature, Botany, and alpine Photography enthusiasts, featuring Alpine plant species, themed trails, educational activities for children and adults, guided tours, and workshops.

The Paradisia Alpine Botanical Garden is located in Valnontey, a hamlet of Cogne, in the heart of the Gran Paradiso National Park, at an altitude of 1,700 meters and takes its name from its name. from the mountain lily Paradisea liliastrum, a rare species characteristic of alpine meadows.

It is home to approximately a thousand species of plants and flowers typical of the Alps and Apennines, as well as a selection of mountain flora from other parts of the world (Europe, Asia, America). Various high-altitude environments have been reconstructed, including wetlands, moraines, and limestone debris, allowing visitors to observe the diversity of alpine habitats.
Brochures and explanatory signs for each plant: yellow (Italian species), white (exotic), red (medicinal, with a symbol for poisonous plants)
Visitors have the opportunity to get closer to nature by observing and analyzing the plants they might encounter during a hike in the Gran Paradiso mountains, discovering their names, comparing them with similar ones, and learning to recognize and respect them.

The peak flowering period is from mid-June to mid-July, depending on the season.
Among the garden’s most interesting species: Paradisea liliastrum (mountain lily), Leontopodium alpinum (Edelweiss), Pinguicula vulgaris (a rare insectivorous plant), Artemisia genipi (genepy), and other endemic and rare species such as Aethionema thomasianum.

The garden is designed for both the conservation of alpine biodiversity and environmental education: various thematic itineraries and guided tours (lasting approximately 1-2 hours) allow visitors to discover the curiosities, properties, and characteristics of various alpine plants.
Educational workshops and family activities are also available.
