Medieval military architecture, with a monolithic and functional structure, enriched by refined architectural details in stone, which testifies to the history and prestige of the Challant family in the Aosta Valley

The construction of the Castle began in 1390 at the behest of Ibleto di Challant, a member of the powerful Challant family, who governed much of the Aosta Valley.

The Castle has played a strategic role in controlling communication routes and has hosted several battles and sieges over the centuries
A dense series of corbels arranged along the entire perimeter of the manor, framing the attic, refined mullioned windows and then cross windows, are the result of the decorative campaign initially desired by Ibleto di Challant in the 14th century to embellish his military residence.

Very large Stone arches, massive, transformed into ramps, the bases of large staircases that lead to the upper floors.
The rooms are bare, but it is interesting to observe the subdivision between the service areas on the top level, the rooms for weapons and guards on the ground floor and the rooms reserved for the lords, on the first floor.

The Castle can be visited by going up a mule track or steep staircase that leads to the entrance; the visit allows you to admire the military architecture and the sober interior spaces but rich in stone details
