A procession of historic boats filled with over 1100 participants and rowers parade along the Naviglio del Brenta among a large cheering public.
On the second Sunday of September, the most picturesque event of the season is held along the Brenta Riviera: the Riviera Fiorita. The event recalls the meeting between the Doge of the Republic of Venice and the King of France Henry III which took place in 1574.
The event begins in front of Villa Pisani in Strà, where the exchange of gifts takes place between the Doge and the King in the presence of a large entourage of figures in Renaissance costume.
After the exchange of gifts along the course of the Brenta, the water procession led by the “bissone” (boats used in the historic regatta of Venice) will take the King and Doge to nearby Dolo and then continue towards Villa Contarini of the Lions in Mira until reaching Venice.
The party continues until the evening along the entire Brenta Riviera with musical shows, dances and food and wine stands.
Mini gondola tours planned, guided tastings of gastronomic ice cream, accompanied walks in the historic centers and villas and extraordinary in-depth opportunities.
On the occasion of the Riviera Fiorita, the passage of the King of France Henry III, which took place in 1574, is recalled, who had already expressed appreciation and praise for this splendid corner of the Venetian mainland, but above all the splendor and presence of the nobles of the lagoon city and of the Brenta , an ideal extension of the Grand Canal, had become a place dedicated to holidays, to the pleasure of living, to parties in luxurious architectural settings, an expression of a cultural, historical and artistic heritage of great value, recognized at an international level.

Today, as then, on the second Sunday of September, we witness the passage of the water procession, with historic boats from the Venice Regatta and participants, rigorously dressed in period costumes.
The procession is followed by the representative boats of the rowing clubs, with prizes awarded in Malcontenta, the arrival point of the procession.
Riviera Fiorita, with its many events, aims to underline the real and imaginary journey between the most significant stages in the history of the Brenta Riviera: the meeting of the King of France with the Doge, the life of the Venetian nobles in the summer residences and the call that this generous and fascinating territory has had an impact on foreign visitors for years.
